Caucus for Results Rally in Cedar Rapids

This evening Senator Dodd spoke to a big crowd packed into the Blue Strawberry in Cedar Rapids. The temperatures were in single digits outside, but the crowd was fired up to hear Chris Dodd speak about why he's running for President and the burden that rests with Iowa's caucus-going Democrats to help shape the future of our country with their selection Thursday night.

Senator Dodd was introduced first by IAFF President Harold Schaitberger and his wife, Jackie.

Tommy Christopher has a nice endorsement for Senator Dodd:

The Senator misrepresented his biography in a rally broadcast on C-SPAN today. He said that "going back to 1789" he was the only Senator "elected five times to the [U.S.] Senate [from CT]."

First, this is deceptive on its face as Senators weren't directly elected by the citizenry until 1914 - they were chosen by the CT General Assembly.

Second, if you grant that Senators prior to 1914 were 'elected' (even if by the legislature), the statement is still false in that Sen. Orville H. Platt was elected five times and died in office shortly into the 3rd year of his fifth term.

Well, it's not his biography that's off, it's his comprehension of historical factoids. Should have left out 1789. LOL
But then, that's the year the U.S. Constitution went into effect--a very important year for Dodd.
