we are going to be taking a day trip up to New Hampshire on Saturday, December 29th. We will be leaving Connecticut at 8:00 am and we will leave New Hampshire no later then 4:00pm. This is going to be a great day talking to voters in New Hampshire. We are going to go door-to-door or you can make phone calls from the New Hampshire Headquarters. I wanted to direct you to a few articles on Senator Dodd back home in Connecticut. Bill Curry of the Hartford Courant praises Dodd's tone and methodology on the issues.

Dodd had the right tone, pointed but respectful. He was more specific and concrete on issues ranging from privacy to energy to Iraq. It's the smart way to answer Clintonian generalities - not with ideology or ad hominem attacks, but with specificity.

Columnist John Foley of the New London Day says Dodd is doing well and scoring points in the presidential debates. And lastly, the Courant's Kevin Rennie likes what he's seeing from Senator Dodd of late in the campaign: poise and experience.

Dodd's giving plenty of value whenever he finds himself in the center of the action. It's a pleasure to see a pro at ease in action. No wonder he looks like the happiest candidate.

Blogger Spazeboy endorses Chris Dodd for President:

I Support Chris Dodd... Because Chris Dodd supports me.

As a blogger, Chris Dodd stood up for me when he went on the O’Reilly Factor to challenge Bill O’Reilly’s smearing of DailyKos and the Yearly Kos Convention.

As a member of MoveOn, Chris Dodd stood up for me as the only member of Connecticut’s Congressional Delegation to vote NO on condeming the organization for its paid advertisement.

As a student, Chris Dodd stood up for me with his education plan that calls for greater competition among loan providers, leading to lower loan interest rates.

As a citizen, Chris Dodd stood up for me when he stood up for the Constitution. He teamed up with Senator Pat Leahy to Restore Habeas. More recently, Chris Dodd placed a hold on the FISA Bill that if passed in its current state would give immunity to telecom companies who eagerly complied with the Bush Administration and handed over our telephone records. If Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid chooses to ignore the hold (as is speculated), Chris Dodd has pledged to filibuster the bill.

As a Connecticut Democrat and Ned Lamont supporter, Chris Dodd stood up for me when he stood up for Ned Lamont after he was chosen by a majority of Connecticut Democrats as their nominee for U.S. Senate last year

As you can see, Chris Dodd has earned my support. I am proud to formally declare my support for his Presidential run.

What a fantastic endorsement, one that makes so clear why Spazeboy -- and so many others -- are standing with Chris Dodd.

When it comes to Iraq Dodd hasn’t disappointed. Dodd’s constituents in Connecticut know this. Bloggers across the country know this. I’m glad to see that Iowa journalists realize it too. We still have four months to go until the Caucus. Dodd has an uphill battle ahead of him, but it’s one worth fighting. As it stands now Dodd is our best hope for ending the war.

McEnroe on Dodd: "You Are My Hero"

Hartford Courant columnist and radio host Colin McEnroe had a fantastic column on free speech yesterday. Part of the column is addressed towards the recent Senate debate on MoveOn's ad criticizing the Bush administration's Iraq policy and primary messenger, General David Petraeus. McEnroe highlights Dodd's objections to the Senate spending hours on end talking about an ad when they should be working on ending the war in Iraq.

Thursday the U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly to condemn MoveOn.org for running a newspaper ad that was headlined "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?" The rest of the ad was good, solid, well-warranted dissent. It questioned - responsibly - Petraeus' handling of the facts. The headline was catchy and snarky. If MoveOn had called me, I could have shared with them my decades of experience in letting the catchy and snarky become the enemy of the good. Doesn't matter. What is the U.S. Senate doing condemning this kind of speech? Chris Dodd, you are my hero! "It is a sad day in the Senate when we spend hours debating an ad while our young people are dying in Iraq," said Connecticut's good senator. The worst thing you can say about the MoveOn ad is that it was disrespectful of a four-star general, but that's only a crime in military dictatorships. Generals work for us citizens. Our taxes (plus money borrowed from China) pay their salaries and put gas in their jets. If we don't like what they say to Congress, we get to holler.

But going beyond McEnroe's defense of MoveOn's ad as a protected speech act, I can't emphasize enough the extent to which I agree with Senator Dodd's belief that debate should be focused on the war in Iraq. 3,775 Americans have died fighting in Iraq and tens of thousands more have been injured. Shoe-horning a controversial use of the Senate's time into a debate on Iraq will do nothing to ensure that more Americans do not die through our involvement in Iraq's civil war. The fact that more Senators voted to condemn a political advertisement than voted to end a war is truly sad. It's a question of priorities. Senator Dodd wants to end the war - but Senate Republicans are more concerned with ending an anti-war organizations influence on public opinion. The debate on funding - and thus continuing or ending - the war in Iraq will be continuing this week and likely into next week. Senator Dodd will be working towards setting a date certain for withdrawal and enforcing that date through the Congressional power of the purse. I hope that the Senate spends more time discussing that than any other political advertisements which surface over the coming weeks, no matter how titillating they are. Gabe of CT Local Politics has taken on a role posting at The Left Coaster in support of Chris Dodd's candidacy. In his first post there today, Gabe has endorsed Chris Dodd for President:

I am proud to endorse my Senator, Chris Dodd, for President for many reasons (the major ones of which are discussed here), but one stands out above the rest. Leadership. On every issue, from Iraq, to the growing climate crisis, to the rule of law, Chris Dodd has done more than talk the talk of a Presidential candidate - He has led. For me, the most important of these issues, the one that all of the others are based on at a fundamental level, is the restoration of the Constitution. I became a Chris Dodd supporter for certain and for good when I read these words [in a Huffington Post op-ed] ... When I hear the Democrats of the Boomer Generation talk about being inspired enough by John or Robert Kennedy to get out on the Presidential campaign trail to stump for a candidate for the first time, I used to think that it is a shame that my generation of Democrats hasn't had a similarly inspirational candidate. I don't any more - Chris Dodd is that candidate.

Now that Dodd has taken his leadership to the head of the presidential pack, he's earning the support of people who are looking for issue leadership, experience, and bold ideas to move America forward. Exciting Events in the Nutmeg State!

This month in the Nutmeg state we have some exciting events happening.On September 26 we are going to join the New Hampshire Dodd Squad at the NBC debate to show New Hampshire and the nation our support for Chris Dodd. After we rally outside the debate there will be a debate watching party in Hanover. The debate is from 9:00-11:00.We will set up and coordinate car pools and directions will be provided. On Thursday September 27 from 5:00-8:30 we are having a Volunteer Action Night at our Connecticut headquarters, located at 242 Trumbull Street. This is going to be a great evening filled with food, fun, and phone calls. Our Connecticut office is now open for phone banking and other volunteer opportunities Monday – Friday 8:30-8:00 and Saturday 11:00-3:00.
