HARTFORD - Yesterday, the Chris Dodd for President Campaign announced the endorsement of the Connecticut Education Association (CEA), which represents 41,000 educators across the state of Connecticut. Dodd, who is known as the "Children's Senator" for his efforts on behalf of children and families, from authoring the landmark Family and Medical Leave Act to his support of early childhood education, has proposed a comprehensive education plan from pre-K through college that has been praised by many in the education community, including Phil Apruzzese, CEA President.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Connecticut Education Association," said Dodd. "No one understands my commitment to improving our children's education more than Connecticut's educators. I am grateful for their support throughout the years and excited to have them stand with me in support of my presidential campaign.
"Senator Dodd's strong record in support of public education is the reason we are working for the senator in the upcoming primaries," said CEA President Phil Apruzzese. "He has been in the forefront as a strong voice advocating for public education at all levels - from supporting early childhood education to making college affordable. Senator Dodd stands up for what is right and what has made America great - strong public schools for all of our students. The Connecticut senator recognizes that Washington needs to invest in schools that are in need of improvement, not punish them."
