Still Awaiting Response from Edwards and Obama Campaigns
DES MOINES – Chris Dodd for President Iowa State Director Julie Andreeff Jensen released the following statement in response to the campaigns of Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton agreeing to pledge that their out-of-state staff and volunteers will not attempt to caucus on January 3rd:
“I appreciate that the campaigns of Senator Biden and Senator Clinton have joined us in making the commitment to protect the integrity of the Iowa Caucuses and ensure that they truly belong to Iowans. I remain disappointed that the Richardson campaign has rejected that commitment, and I’m troubled that neither the Edwards campaign nor the Obama campaign has yet to respond at all.
“As I said yesterday, if the Edwards, Obama, and Richardson campaigns continue refusing to make such a simple commitment, we can only take that to mean that they are in fact intending to use paid staff to influence precinct caucuses around the state.”
In a letter sent to all the Iowa State Directors yesterday, Andreeff Jensen set a deadline of 1:00pm Central on Wednesday, November 14th, for agreeing to the pledge, stating, “If I have not heard from you by that point, I will assume that you disagree with our goal of preserving the Iowa Caucuses for Iowans.”
