Today, Senator and Presidential candidate Chris Dodd issued the following statement in response to Congressional hearings into the allegations raised by former KBR employee Jamie Leigh Jones:
“I commend Ms. Jones for bravely coming forward to tell her story. Her courage to fight against her alleged attackers demands a similar response from the administration to ensure that the conditions in Iraq that allowed her rape to take place are immediately investigated, addressed and remedied.
“The Department of Justice's refusal to testify in this matter is unacceptable and shameful. And I am anxious to learn why the investigation into these allegations is taking so long.
“As long as the US is mired in Iraq and this Administration fails to conduct the necessary oversight with respect to contractors, I fear the horrendous crimes like those allegedly committed against Ms. Jones and at least eleven women like her may continue to happen.”
