MANCHESTER - Today, Senator and Presidential Candidate Chris Dodd received the endorsement of Former U.S. Senator John Durkin. Durkin served from 1975 until 1980 and was the last Democrat to represent New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate.
"I've know Chris for over 30 years and it is clear to me that he has the leadership and experience we need in our next President," said Durkin. "In a field of strong Democratic candidates, Chris has stood out in the debates and throughout this campaign as a bright, tough, and experienced candidate who can take back the White House and be ready to lead on day one. Chris has a record of standing up for America's working families and the experience to restore America's credibility throughout the world. I am proud to support his candidacy."
"Senator Durkin has been a friend and an outstanding public servant for the people of New Hampshire throughout this career," said Dodd. "I'm honored to receive his endorsement and I know that his experience and support will be a tremendous asset to my campaign in these last few weeks before the Primary."
Durkin is a resident of Manchester, NH, where he still practices law. Prior to being elected to the U.S Senate, he served as New Hampshire's Assistant Attorney General from 1967-1968 and Insurance Commissioner from 1968-1973. Durkin is also a veteran who served in the United States Navy from 1959-1961.
Durkin joins a growing list of elected officials and Democratic activists that are supporting Chris Dodd for President. Other notable endorsements include former New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Joe Keefe, former U.S. Congressman Norm D'Amours, Former House Minority Leader and Candidate for Congress Jim Craig, and President of the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire Dave Lang.
