My New Job Rocks

Matt Browner-Hamlin's picture

Hello hello - my name is Matt Browner-Hamlin and today's my first day on the Dodd campaign. I've been blogging about progressive politics for over two years but this is my first time working on a campaign's staff. I'm joining the Dodd campaign now because I believe he is what we need in our next president -- he has boldly lead through his actions, based on his convictions to do what is right. I'm very excited to come help Senator Dodd become the next President of the United States.

I wanted to tell you about what I'll be doing for the Dodd campaign. As you can tell, we've just launched a redesigned version of ChrisDodd.com. I've joined the campaign to help add content to the site so that Senator Dodd's supporters will know what he and his campaign staff are doing as it's happening. I'll be traveling with Senator Dodd on his campaign trips. My blog posts will aim to give readers a window into the Dodd campaign - what we're doing, where we're going, and what Senator Dodd is talking about.

But my job will go far beyond writing about the campaign. As I travel with Senator Dodd around America, I'll be posting videos from the trail. Lots of video. We're going to be doing exciting things with live streaming web video that will provide viewers an insiders look into what Senator Dodd is doing. This campaign is going to be transparent in real time because we believe that the more people get to know Senator Dodd, the more they will like him.

I'm also going to be posting Twitter updates that are fed directly into the front page of ChrisDodd.com.

As I said before, I'm excited to be working on the Dodd campaign. I've already had more than a few of my new coworkers tell me how jealous they are that I'll get to be traveling with Senator Dodd. I feel like I'm going to be filling a groundbreaking role for a presidential campaign and I relish this opportunity.

Now, onwards to victory!

The more I learn about Dodd the more he grows on me--both how he carries himself and his policies. If you can help me and others get a better sense of Chris Dodd "the person" as opposed to Chris Dodd "the product of handlers" you'll be doing a good service to your candidate. I haven't made up my mind who to support, but Dodd is in the running and I am eager to learn more.

Thanks for your support Mark. The whole plan here is to give voters like you a window into the Dodd campaign. I'm here specifically to facilitate that process and look forward to helping share information about what the Senator and his campaign is up to on a day to day basis.

Be sure to keep stopping by to check out what's going on.
Thanks!

Congratulations, Matt! I know you'll do a great job documenting Senator Dodd on the campaign trail. I look forward to your reports from the field. And tell the Senator I said he made a good hire when he picked you up for the staff. D-SPAN, hehe.

Matt Browner-Hamlin May 14, 2007 - 11:29am

I happen to be of the biased opinion that Senator Dodd made a good hire here too. Now it's my job to prove him right. D-Span is going to be a really exciting way that we communicate what's happening with the campaign.

You got yourself a rockstar here, Senator Dodd.

Oh, and congrats, Matt. Looking forward to your posts (and video. Sweet, sweet video...) from the trail.

Thanks for the kind words Phillip. Everyone should go check out Phil's great post at his blog The Albany Project about my hire here - it's my favorite blog covering New York politics.

The new site and blog does not come across well at all on a Mac running Firefox. The formatting is off, half of the content doesn't show up, etc.

It is good now - good work folks!

Anonymous May 14, 2007 - 1:00pm

The redesigned site looks fantastic!!

Erik May 14, 2007 - 2:15pm

There were a few glitches this morning with the relaunch, but it should be fine now. And don't worry anonymous Mac Firefox user - we were looking through your eyes from the start.

NYC's loss is Senator Dodd's gain. Good luck, and I'm sure we'll be reading a bunch from the campaign.

Nancy Hamlin May 14, 2007 - 3:50pm

Well, I think Dodd made a great choice as well - since I am Matt's Aunt, who will remain silently in the background after this entry. (:

I am looking forward to intelligent commentary as opposed to media bites and bits - with an emphasis on policy and not posturing. Here's to getting our knowledge and information from someone who truly cares about our future!!

Matt Browner-Hamlin May 14, 2007 - 5:00pm

Hi Aunt Nancy - thanks for the kind words. I'm here to help give people a real look inside the Dodd campaign. I think that doing so will make it easier for people to recognize that Chris Dodd is a leader who acts on his convictions and is the best person to be the next President of the United States.

Talk to you soon!

TeddySanFran May 14, 2007 - 8:07pm

I'll certainly miss your contributions at The Right's Field, Matt, and will keep up with you over here now. I've made another choice for 2008, but I'm certainly not opposed to seeing Chris Dodd do well. Good luck -- I hope the Dodd campaign knows what a wise choice they've made hiring you.

I found out by accident--was looking for something else and found your post over at the baltimoregroup blog. I'm so pleased for you. I think Chris Dodd is an excellent candidate. Best Wishes!

Congratulations,
but I have to say that was very disappointed with Dodd for throwing immigrants under the bus in his recent debate with Hillary. That's when he lost my vote. Perhaps he made a good move politically, but I think he did it by appealing to some creepy nativist, quasi-racist sentiments. Hope your job goes ok anyway. Peace.
