On Saturday, Senator Chris Dodd joined the Merrimack County Democrats as the keynote speaker for their Saint Patrick’s Day Dinner in Concord. 150 Democratic activists from Merrimack County packed the IBEW Hall to listen to Senator Dodd speak, and the atmosphere was festive. A band played traditional Irish music, everyone danced and ate their fill of corned beef and cabbage.

Photo credit: APSenator Dodd walked into the room to a standing ovation. He spent time greeting everyone he could find and taking questions before people sat down to eat and listen. Concord State Representative Steve Shurtleff looked festive in a green blazer and tie, Congressman Paul Hodes amused the crowd with a couple Saint Patrick’s Day jokes and lavished praise on Senator Dodd. Dodd was introduced by Merrimack County Democratic Committee member Amanda Grady who thanked Senator Dodd for taking Democratic principles and making them national policy.
Merrimack County Democrats had much to celebrate after the 2006 elections and Senator Dodd lent a helping hand by campaigning on behalf of Paul Hodes and on behalf of Harold Janeway, one of Merrimack County’s newly elected State Senators.
Senator Dodd impressed the crowd with his passion and his command of the issues. I’ll have more next time, but even I was surprised by the number of people who’d signed up to help the campaign.
Update from Reid: Scott and Dave sent us video from the New Hampshire events. We're chopping them now, and they'll be up soon.
