Heartland Presidential Forum Today

Chris Dodd will be taking part in the Heartland Presidential Forum this afternoon in Des Moines at 2:30 PM Eastern and will last three hours. The Forum is hosted by the Campaign for Community Change. You can watch the Forum live on C-Span or streaming on the internet at their blog, Movement Vision Lab.

Here's what the Forum's blog has to say about what this event is about:

This is not the usual, Washington-insider event. This groundbreaking event puts our stories and values on the national stage. It is our chance to talk about the real issues facing real people in our communities. And today, the candidates will respond directly to us! We all know that politicians often ignore the values and issues of everyday people. But today, they are paying attention!

They are paying attention because more than 5,000 people are here in this hall. We have come from all over Iowa and from 31 other states across the country. We have come together because we all have a stake in the next election and we want change in this country. Even though we may focus on different issues, we know that all of our concerns are connected. And the only way to make change happen is to come together.

We have something new to say. This event is about the values we all share – the true values of America. We have always known that we are all in it together – that alone we can do so little but together we can do so much. Too often, politicians on all sides have told us we’re on our own, that we have to be afraid of anyone who is different and that change is impossible. Today, we’re rejecting that story and telling a new one: that the story of America is the story of community values. Today we lift up a new story rooted in our communities.

Tune in this afternoon and watch Senator Dodd speak about community values and how he engages everyday people in his campaign for President.

Yahoo! Democratic Candidate Mashup

Yesterday Senator Dodd took part in an online forum sponsored by Yahoo!, Slate, and the Huffington Post. He was asked four questions -- three by Charlie Rose, one by Bill Maher -- and videos of his responses are now online.

All of the Democratic candidates took part in the forum and you can watch and compare their answers. After watching Dodd's responses, vote for him as the clear winner of the forum!
