Revitalizing Rural America

Senator Dodd has put out his plan for revitalizing rural America.

Chris Dodd wants to help rural families meet and overcome the challenges of rural life because he knows that for all our advances, our country’s best hope in the 21st century lies in preserving the values and viability of the American Heartland and that every American benefits from the hard work of our family farmers and those living in rural America.

Blue Hampshire Policy Straw Poll

Matt Browner-Hamlin's picture

Blue Hampshire has their weekly straw poll up today. The topic is China:

"I am the only candidate who has stood up for American families by authoring legislation that would level the playing field with China and called for the President to use his authority to protect Americans from unsafe imports coming from China.

"America's companies and workers deserve an opportunity to compete on fair terms with China, just as we provide market access for them.  That is why I introduced the Currency Reform and Financial Markets Act of 2007, which creates tough, new authority for both the Treasury Department and the Congress to provide a level playing field for U.S. businesses and workers.  It also clarifies the definition of currency manipulation and will prevent ambiguity or delay in addressing the problem.  No other legislation encompasses these two elements.

"Last month, as reports came in that products from China coming into America were unsafe, I was the first candidate to call on President Bush to immediately suspend all imports of toys and food from China.  We have the legal right and authority under the WTO to keep products out of our country that threaten the health and safety of our families.  As President, I will ensure we do so."

Go vote for Senator Dodd!

First Responders Policy

Matt Browner-Hamlin's picture

One week after the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and a week before the sixth anniversary of 9/11, Chris Dodd today unveiled a comprehensive first responders policy proposal that outlines actions he would take as President to keep our nation safe and American families secure. Dodd's plan would ensure that our first responders have the tools they need to keep themselves and our communities safe; that we are able to keep and recruit first responders; and that our communities are prepared to respond to any emergency situation.

"I am running for President because the time has come for trusted, proven leadership that gives our first responders what they need to get the job done - to keep America as safe and secure in the 21st century as she was in the last. Something has gone terribly wrong in this country when it comes to service these last six years - to what our leaders are asking of our first responders and what they are providing in return for that sacrifice. We need a leader who gives first responders the tools they need to do their jobs and the quality of life they need to stay on the job. If we want the country to be ready, we will need a President who is every bit as ready."
