One week after the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and a week before the sixth anniversary of 9/11, Chris Dodd today unveiled a comprehensive first responders policy proposal that outlines actions he would take as President to keep our nation safe and American families secure. Dodd's plan would ensure that our first responders have the tools they need to keep themselves and our communities safe; that we are able to keep and recruit first responders; and that our communities are prepared to respond to any emergency situation.
"I am running for President because the time has come for trusted, proven leadership that gives our first responders what they need to get the job done - to keep America as safe and secure in the 21st century as she was in the last. Something has gone terribly wrong in this country when it comes to service these last six years - to what our leaders are asking of our first responders and what they are providing in return for that sacrifice. We need a leader who gives first responders the tools they need to do their jobs and the quality of life they need to stay on the job. If we want the country to be ready, we will need a President who is every bit as ready."
