middle class matters

Perfect Score

There are a number of score cards on how politicians stack up on certain issues. The Drum Major Institute just launched their score card and report for how Congress votes on "legislation significant to America's current and aspiring middle class." New this year, DMI's score card is live while the legislative session is still in session, making it far more accessible. It's easy for me to tell you about it now and let you know that Chris Dodd scores 100% on middle-class matters.

Town Hall Meeting in Eldridge, Iowa

Last night's Town Hall Meeting in Eldridge, Iowa was a pretty special event. Senator Dodd spoke to a packed school cafeteria for about an hour - answering questions about Iraq, student loans, restoring the Constitution, and growing the American economy in a global market. The questions from the audience were sharp and thoughtful - and it was a pleasure for me to watch Senator Dodd engage them directly while providing honest answers that spoke to his experience as a leader. I hope you find the same holds true when you watch the videos below... Introductory remarks: Q&A:

Dodd on Middle Class Matters

Yesterday Senator Dodd spoke at community kitchen table meetings in Adel, Boone, and Fort Dodge. The talks focused around America's middle class and what Senator Dodd will do to strengthen the middle class for years to come through his comprehensive education plan and universal health care plan. In the clip below, Dodd explains how he thinks about the problems facing the middle class and the importance of offering bold leadership to make them right. Unfortunately because I'm in a place that lacks high-speed broadband internet access, I can only put up a short clip now. I'll have more video from Adel, Boone, and Fort Dodge up later today. The discussions that took place at these events were thoughtful and sincere -- ranging from making higher education accessible to all of our kids to ensuring that prescription drugs are more affordable to addressing the need to be fiscally responsible so we don't saddle future generations with an overwhelming national debt. The concerns that people expressed to Senator Dodd are as real as it gets -- and his commitment to answering them is transparent for anyone to see if they take a look at his record of experience and service. Again, I'll get more from those conversations up later today.
